Banking and Buckets Camp
Our mission is to use current and former college and professional basketball athletes to draw kids with a love of basketball into the gym to teach them financial literacy and basketball skills.
BANKING AND BUCKETS CAMP | Fall Break 2022
We will hold the inaugural Banking and Buckets camp during fall break 2022 for Memphis-Shelby County Schools on Oct. 10 -14 from 9 am - 2pm (Monday - Friday). Parents can drop off kids as early as 9:00 the camp will begin at 9:30am. Free lunch will be served daily.
Banking and Buckets is a partnership with Memphis Athletic Ministries (MAM). We’ll host close to 70 campers at the MAM Grizzlies Center at 2107 Ball Rd. Grades 3rd-8th for boys and girls.
Local bank volunteers will teach the financial literacy portion of the camp, while the basketball skills portion will be conducted by notable Memphis area NCAA Division 1 college and professional basketball athletes. We will also have select University of Memphis basketball players join as guest coaches at the camp!
THE NEED
The financial literacy challenge is real. Just four in seven Americans are financially literate. And just one in four millennials understands basic financial concepts.

THE CHALLENGE IN MEMPHIS
Sadly, only four percent of those kids will break the cycle of poverty and break into the upper middle class. Together we can change the financial trajectory for low-income children in Memphis.
TEACHING KIDS ABOUT RETURN ON INVESTMENT
We will ask the camper's family to make an initial "investment" of $25 per kid to register for the camp. If the camper attends all five days of the camp and completes the financial literacy pre-test and post-test, that initial "investment" of $25 will be matched. The camper will receive a $50 VISA GIFT CARD at the conclusion of the camp.
